Stars Sports Football Academy has briefed Journalists ahead of the second edition of the Detection Tournament at the Sierra Leone Football Academy in Kingtom.
The essence of the second Detection tournament is to help scout out new talent across the Country.
Scribe of Star Sports Football Academy Alpha Fawundu, stated that the briefing is to update Journalists and the Public about their previous Detection Tournament and the commencement of the second edition.
Tamba Ngongo Head Coach of Star Football Academy informed the gathering that some of their players were detected in the first edition that was held in BO City Southern Arena Stadium, and that these players that were detected have gone for trials in Turkey.
He added that some of his players were not fortunate to be scouted by foreign Scouts who were in town for the Detection Project but that the project is essential because it focuses on the development of the players.
Coach Ngongo expressed that, as a result of the age categories of the players they are moved for trails at a gradual process citing that two players are currently training with Senior and reserve teams at the Antalya Sport in Turkey which they are excited about.
He went on to explain that, during his short spell in Turkey he was able to interact with football Scouts who are ready to come to Sierra Leone for the second phase of the Detection Tournament, and that they currently have about five players that will soon leave the shores of Freetown for Turkey, America, Sweden, Russia and Egypt.
The Coach disclosed to pressmen that they will be organising U-15 Tournament in Turkey in May this year, which is why they have decided to organise another Detection Tournament to scout other players in Europe.
CEO of Star Sports Football Academy Mohamed Susu Tarawallie stressed that they are bracing up for this tournament because they want to get it right ahead of the task they have at hand.
“we have several upcoming tournaments in Sweden, and Turkey, this is the first time we have invited an Academy in Sierra Leone to be part of such an Academy Tournament that is meant for U-18 players” He stated.
Star Football Academy is set to commence the construction of a Stadium that will host other administrative buildings.
