The NP Sierra Limited (NPSL) has on Friday 31st May 2024, kicked off the second edition of the Inter Secondary School Squash.
This year’s competition commenced at the Saint Edwards Senior School Squash facility at Kingtom comprising eleven male and female schools in Freetown.
In his welcome address Vice Principal of Saint Edwards Secondary School Mr. Eustace Wachuku- John welcomed participants from the respective schools attending the competition and urged them to be comfortable at their school’s squash facility. He went on to applaud the Management of NPSL for boosting squash in schools and prayed that God will reward NPSL for the good Job they are doing in the country.
Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Squash Association (SLSA) Sosthenes Smith registered profound gratitude to NPSL noting that they (NPSL) over the years has been a major sponsor to the Association. He admonished participants to be dedicated to the sport by training hard and that in the game of squash there are no losers.
While delivering her Keynote Address, Communications Manager of NPSL Dr. Williette Keme James started by appreciating God for making it possible to host another inter Secondary School Squash Competition.
She expressed that NPSL is passionate about improving squash in the country especially among school going children.
“we have established squash facilities in three schools and one university namely, the Sierra Leone Grammar School, Saint Edwards Secondary School, Bo Government Senior Secondary and the Fourah Bay College University. This year, we will construct two more squash facilities one at Methodist Boys High School and at an Army Mess for military personnel.” She stated
While dilating on the establishment of NPSL Dr. James informed the gathering that NPSL was established in 1954 and has been the leading contributor in Sierra Leone’s Oil and Petroleum Industry.
“we are the largest tax contributor in Sierra Leone and we can as well boast of having the largest storage facility in the country with high safety standards.” She expressed
Dr. James added that NPSL is engaged in various corporate social responsibility activities across the country and that they continue to provide jobs for Sierra Leonean professionals ranging from Accountants, Engineers, Communication Professionals and others.
The competition will climax on 1st June 2024, with presentation of prizes and certificates to participants.
