SIERRA LEONE TO HOST 2024 CAF WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIERS

Sierra Leone has been selected as the distinguished host Nation for the prestigious 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women's Champions League Qualifiers within the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A.


The tournament which is scheduled to commence from 2nd to  11th August 2024, will convene Champions of female clubs from all nine member Associations within the zone.


This prestigious opportunity does not only underscores Sierra Leone’s growing stature in the regional football community but also recognizes the country’s commitment in promoting and nurturing women’s football talent.


Thomas Daddy Brima, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), expressed his delight that  Sierra Leone is being chosen as the host nation for this esteemed event. He acknowledged the importance of the event as it is geared towards showcasing the nation’s hospitality, organizational prowess, and passion for football on an international stage.


The SLFA President described the tournament as a platform that demonstrates Sierra Leone’s capability to deliver world-class sporting events, thereby enhancing the country’s reputation and attracting further recognition on the global football scene.


Beyond the sporting spectacle, hosting the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers holds immense significance for Sierra Leone’s socio-economic landscape. The tournament is expected to catalyze talent exploration, provide job opportunities for numerous talented footballers, and elevate the status of women’s football in the country.
