Sierra Leone is making significant progress in controlling its Mpox outbreak, with daily cases falling from a peak of 200 in April to single digits in August.
Health officials credit the success to strong collaboration between the National Public Health Agency, the Ministry of Health, and international partners, including the U.S. Government, which has invested over $2 million in response efforts.
The funding has supported key initiatives, including regional and plenary sessions of the Mpox Intra-Action Review, held yesterday and today. These sessions brought together stakeholders to evaluate past successes, address ongoing challenges, and plan the next steps in ending the outbreak.
Authorities emphasized that continued vigilance and coordinated action remain essential. “Together, we can stop this outbreak and save lives,” said health officials.
