To mitigate the effects of seaweed (Sargassum) on Lumley-Aberdeen Beach, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the National Tourist Board, alongside its partners, have embarked on yet another clearing of debris and Waste along Lumley-Aberdeen Beach in Freetown.
The endeavor seeks to reduce dirt and human waste off the beach's surface, to cushion the effects of the prevailing seaweeds on the beach that the Ministry and NTB are grappling to contain.
Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, Permanent Secretary, Edward Kwame Yankson, General Manager, NTB, Fatmata Hamid Carew, staff of Ministry and NTB, as well as other partners, were all in full swing during the cleaning exercise. The Ministry is calling on more partners to come on board to find a sustainable solution to address the seaweed and restore our prime coastal tourist sites to their beautiful ambiance.
