The National Olympic Committee/Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE) has successfully held its first-ever Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the prestigious Country Lodge Hotel in Freetown. The event, held under the unifying theme “One Team, One Vision,” marks a historic milestone in the governance of sports administration in Sierra Leone.
The AGM brought together leaders from national sporting federations, athletes, technical staff, and stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on key strategic reforms, review annual reports, and set the course for future sporting achievements.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Prince Vandy Sualley, President of NOC/CGA-SLE, emphasized the importance of collective commitment and renewed energy in building a stronger sports sector.
“Today is not just about meeting constitutional requirements. It is about forging a new path of unity, purpose, and excellence for Sierra Leonean sports,” Mr. Sualley said. “With this first AGM, we are laying the foundation for a more transparent, accountable, and athlete-focused Olympic movement. One team, one vision—that’s how we will succeed.”
Participants at the AGM discussed athlete welfare, training opportunities, funding gaps, and preparations for upcoming international competitions, including the Paris 2024 Olympics and the next Commonwealth Games.
The AGM also featured presentations from various sporting federations, reports from the NOC Secretariat, and proposals for future partnerships and investment in grassroots development.
Sports administrators and federation heads applauded the NOC for organizing the AGM, describing it as a step in the right direction to professionalize sports in Sierra Leone.
