THE DEVASTATING IMPACTS OF KUSH: FUNTIME BROTHERHOOD CALLS FOR ACTION.

The Funtime Brotherhood Organisation is calling on Government and other key stakeholders to address the spread of Kush in the country as it is destroying the future of our nation.

Drug abuse, particularly the excessive consumption of substances such as 'kush' has become a growing concern in many areas within Sierra Leone. The Funtime Brotherhood strongly condemns this trend and urges all stakeholders to take action to address this issue. 'Kush', a potent form of marijuana, has been increasingly popular among young people, especially in urban areas.

The allure of its effects, such as relaxation and euphoria, has led many to ignore the potential dangers associated with its use. However, the reality is that ‘kush’ can have serious negative consequences on both physical and mental health.

One of the most alarming aspects of the ‘kush’ epidemic  is the way in which it has ensnared so many young individuals. Many promising young men have fallen victim to the addictive nature of this substance, leading to a downward spiral in their lives. Some have become so dependent on ‘kush’ that they no longer see any value in anything else, even basic necessities like water. This level of addiction is not only harmful to the individual but also to their families et al.

In addition to the physical and mental health risks associated with ‘kush’, there are also social and economic consequences. Many individuals who are addicted to drugs like ‘kush’ find it difficult to hold down jobs or maintain healthy relationships. This can lead to a cycle of poverty and despair that is difficult to break.

The Funtime Brotherhood is calling on all relevant stakeholders, including government and non governmental agencies, law enforcement bodies, healthcare providers, and community organizations, to come together and address the ‘kush’ epidemic with urgency. Just as we have seen campaigns against other dangerous substances like “coco samba,” we must now focus our efforts on curbing the spread of kush across the country.

Education and prevention are key components of any successful anti-drug campaign. Young people need to be informed about the dangers of ‘kush’ and other substances, as well as the resources available to help them if they are struggling with addiction.

Treatment and rehabilitation services must also be made more accessible to those in need.It is time for us  to take a stand against the destructive influence of drugs like kush. Let us join forces to combat this epidemic and protect the future of our Sierra Leone .
