Police Exhibit Gender Based Violence

A report reaching this medium is that a Police Officer in Karene Districts has mercilessly beaten a young girl residing in the community.

According to the report, a nineteen-year-old lady named Isatu S. Conteh from Sella Limba Chiefdom, was allegedly assaulted by Police Constable 16023 Alhassan Tejan Kamara at Kamakwie, known as ‘Susu Boy’

The incident has led to an uproar in the community, as residents are now demanding for thorough investigation to be conducted on the action of the said Police Officer.

Local Authorities and Human Rights activists have condemned the action of Sargent ‘Susu Boy’, as there is no place for such an act in our society.

Unconfirmed reports are that the said Sergent ‘Susu Boy’ has been arrested and is currently in custody.

Notable Female organizations such as Women in the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL) has condemned the brutal assault on Isatu and pledged firm support to the support.

In a release dated 3rd September 2024, they stated that “we recognize our role in highlighting and reporting such cases to bring awareness and drive change. We encourage all our members and other journalists to report on this and all other cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.” they stated.

They concluded that they are looking for swift and appropriate actions from the authorities and commit to using their platforms to ensure that such stories are told and justice is achieved,
