In a significant effort to enhance road safety across Sierra Leone, Commodity Trading Company (CTC) SL Ltd, a prominent mining company based in the Port Loko District of Lunsar, generously donated crucial resources to the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) on Friday, April 25, 2025. The donation took place at the SLRSA's office located on Kissy Road in Freetown.

The valuable contributions included an impressive array of equipment aimed at bolstering road safety initiatives: 25 state-of-the-art walkie-talkies for immediate communication needs, 2 TVS motorbikes to facilitate swift mobility on the roads, a robust utility vehicle for transport and logistical support, and 100 well-stocked first aid kits boxes designed to provide essential care during emergencies.

Dr. David Kanume Koroma, the project coordinator for CTC SL Ltd, elaborated on the company's commitment, emphasizing that this donation was specifically intended to empower the SLRSA in its ongoing Road Safety Crusade — a nationwide campaign aimed at reducing accidents and promoting safer driving practices. He reiterated that this gesture is part of a broader strategy of corporate social responsibility initiatives that the company plans to implement in the future.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the SLRSA, Executive Director Mr. James Baggie Bio remarked on the generosity of CTC’s donation. He assured the company that the donated items would be utilized effectively to improve road safety measures. Mr. Bio highlighted the pressing need for such support, emphasizing that the newly provided equipment would significantly enhance the Authority's capacity to manage key highways, particularly the Masiak-Bo and Masiaka-Makeni routes.

In a call to action, the Executive Director encouraged other multinational corporations to support the road safety initiative, stating that collective efforts would be crucial in achieving the goals set forth in the presidential initiative for the Big Five game changers under President Bio's leadership. With safer roads, he contended that the country would take significant strides toward improving the overall well-being of its citizens.
