4th Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Transition Forum Kicks Off in London

The 4th Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Transition Forum officially opened today in London, bringing together member countries, development partners, and youth representatives to shape practical solutions for a just and inclusive energy transition across the Commonwealth.

The high-level forum, which runs over several days, aims to facilitate dialogue on accelerating sustainable energy access, promoting clean technologies, and building resilient energy systems in line with global climate goals. Participants include policymakers, private sector leaders, energy experts, and civil society actors from across the Commonwealth’s 56 member nations.

This year’s forum places a special emphasis on equity and inclusion, recognizing that a just transition must account for the diverse economic and development needs of member states. Young people, in particular, are expected to play a central role in discussions, with dedicated sessions focusing on youth-led innovation and climate action.

Organizers say the event will generate actionable commitments and partnerships to support countries in meeting their climate and energy targets while ensuring no one is left behind in the transition to cleaner energy sources.

The Commonwealth Secretariat, which is spearheading the initiative, has reiterated its commitment to helping members strengthen their energy resilience and achieve net-zero emissions through cooperative and context-specific strategies.

The forum comes at a critical time, as many Commonwealth countries grapple with the dual challenge of expanding energy access while responding to the growing threats of climate change.
